Isla Margarita
2-5 February 2001

After leaving Caracas, I spent a restful three days here at beautiful Portofino, Isla Margarita.

The first picture shows the view from my room, out over the Atlantic. A cool ocean breeze blew continuously, and I didn't use the air conditioner at all. I think that I was the only U.S. citizen in the entire resort.

On Sunday I walked to Playa Manzanillo and enjoyed watching the fishermen gather in their nets.

On Monday I walked the other direction, where I found many local craftsmen. I bought several things, including a beautiful hammock for the cabin. The pictures show the extent of Portofino and Portobelo.
